End of book check out for hybrid and remote students
It's almost the end of the school year! The last day to check out books from the bookmobile will be Thursday, April 29th. The last day to check out books for in school (hybrid) students will be Wednesday, May 5th. The bookmobile will run on our regular schedule May 4th and 6th to collect library books. If your student is a remote learner, please do your best to visit the bookmobile to return your library books. If your remote learner cannot make it to the bookmobile, you will need to drop your library books off at Spaulding School. The office staff will be happy to help you! Hybrid students can bring their books to school to return. Please email Ms. Isbell ([email protected]) if you would like a reminder of what your student has checked out. We will send out automated reminder emails closer to the end of the year! |
Is it a library book?
As the end of the year approaches, it's a great time to start looking for any overdue or missing library books. But how do you tell a library book from any old book on your shelf? Simple! A library book has a few identifying features: BARCODE: A library book will have a barcode on the back cover identifying it as belonging to Spaulding School Library. SPINE LABEL: A spine label helps the library staff know where to shelve a book! PROPERTY STAMP: A library book will have a red stamp inside the front and back covers (or on the first few pages) identifying it as belonging to Spaulding School Library. Please take some time to look for your library books - they may be hiding amongst the other books on your shelf! |
Where to look for library books
If you can't find your library book on your bookshelf at home, there are plenty of other places to look! I hope this list gives you some new and creative ideas for your search!
If your library book is truly lost, you will need to help the library replace the book. You can do this by paying the cost of the book, or by purchasing a replacement copy to donate to the library.

This month in Library...
This was an exciting month in the library! We learned about the Caldecott Award, and read this year's Caldecott Award winner, We Are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom. This book tied in nicely with Earth Day on April 22nd, as it helped us think about how important it is for us to have clean water. This book was illustrated using watercolors, so students also got to extend the Water Protectors lesson by painting with Mr. Fitzy in art class! April is also National Poetry Month! Kindergarten learned about poetry, and read some fun poems about things like shapes, puddles, clouds, and dirt. We also wrote our own color poems! 1st grade read a poetry book called Scranimals about mixed up animals like a Porcupineapple! We loved exploring Scranimal Island, and even coming up with ideas for our own scrambled animals! 2nd grade learned about haiku poetry by reading Dogku by Andrew Clements, and then we wrote our own haikus! Featured haiku from Ms. Buffa's class: A girl wants a pet. Her mom said no, she said please Now she has a pet. |
